There are different ways of acquiring knowledge and asking question is one strategy that can be used for getting desired knowledge. On 15th April, democracy club members organized question answer session on Corporal Punishment in school. The participants were Mr. Thinley Rinzin(Teacher), Mr. Nima Dorji Kalden and Ms. Nima( student). The session indicated that there are mixed feelings on use of corporal punishment in the school. However, it revealed the true feelings of the participants on use of corporal punishment as not appropriate methods of teaching and learning. We would like to thank all the participants for their wonderful answers.

I am Malala-The Girl with bona fide personality
The book title
‘I am Malala’ is about a young Pakistani girl who was shot three times with
bullet on head for spreading education in the Muslim society. She has spent her childhood days in Swat, a princely state of
Pakistan. Malala doesn’t belong to high class family. She comes from a very
humble family who were always in support of education for all. As a young girl
inspired by her father who was by profession, an educationist and the
socioeconomic hardship of Swat people moved her heart and mind to enlightened
their life with the powerful weapon of pen and book. She saw the desperate need
for education for those who were deprived of their basic rights. She saw the
ignorance in her sisters, mothers, and brothers of Swat who were defiled with
the misguiding and misinterpretation of Koran. She saw that their religion was used
as a political weapon by politician, political parties and military groups. she has decided to fight for the
education rights for Muslim women and remove that malady from the hearts and
minds of those where were against the education of women.
In this book “I
am Malala” she reveals the reality of living in a society where people’s minds
are polluted by hatred, discrimination and violence. She tells the world how
common people were deprived of their rights such as gender inequalities, child
labour, and early marriages and among all education. She fought for the
rights of education for girls in her country and she became a target of
infidels because they saw her as a threat to their political power and inhuman
motive. If one looks at the ground reality, Malala was neither a politician nor
a religious leader. Unlike those politician and religious leaders who always
threatens people with political turmoil, existence of hell and heaven, Malala
started enlightening people’s heart and mind with light of education which is a
way to self realization. She was shot by Taliban’s but she survived. Perhaps
the world wants people like Malala who can be always looked as a role model to humanity. She
truly justifies the goodness of humanity. She was awarded with Noble Peace Prize in 2014 which symbolizes that wrong can never defeat good and education as the most
powerful weapon in the world for removing the malady of ignorance.

Your Thinking Does Matter
"Nothing is good or bad, our thinking making it so" I heard many times in my life, perhaps, it got struck in my mind like a mantra leading to path of happiness.
Hi everyone, How many of you get angry? How many of you think Anger is good or think is a bad? well, there might be many contemplation and interpretation. However, history have revealed that getting angry is a human nature. Many great thinkers and leaders got angry but you know they did not do like us when they got angry. when Ghandhiji was humiliated, beaten and thrown out from British court room, he got very angry and he said, you have thrown me out of this room , watch, i will throw you out of this country one day and later he did it, came to be known as Father of Nation. Sir Hillary Edmund failed many times while climbing Mount Everest, he too got very frustrated and angry but he said pointing finger to Mount Everest, wait, I will come again to climb you because you cannot grow and I can, and he became the first person to climb Mount Everest. The famous African leader Nelsen Mandela was sent to prison for 26 years, he got very very angry but you know, when he came out from prison after 26 years, he showed care and love to his enemy, later , he became father of African nation and world leader. Now ask yourself, what you usually do when you get angry? well, about 80 percent of us become very violent and resort to coward act of using physical strength and weapon.
My dear friends, there is nothing wrong in getting angry but changing your anger to positive resolution is very important because it can make you grow. Unfortunately, many of us, we turn our anger into negative resolution which drags us to endless pain. Remember the words of Buddha " Hatred can never cease hatred" The most remarkable feature of man is 'we can think and grow', Infect that is the most beautiful part of our life. We are created by our own thoughts, good and bad is the bi product of our own thoughts. As someone rightly said " Human mind is like an open umbrella, function best when it's open" Now, its up to you whether you want to keep your mind open with positive resolution or with negative resolution because in end everyone of us must choose our own path. At the end, you are who you are and you are going to be who you are. The choice is all yours.
